Hey Columbia! I want you to start your week off right, let the Monday blues get on through. If anyone knows me they know that I am a Wednesday kinda gal, so most of my posts about bargain dining and entertainment start with the day in which we hump!
Wed (6/18) kicks off the 3rd annual Columbia Fashion Week.
I will be attending bits and pieces of this. The bits and pieces that won’t cost me an arm and a leg. At the moment I don’t have much information on prices, just that they will vary. And until they are confirmed I can only say that I am extremely excited about the event itself. Sorry about the lack of info, but my insider failed to reach me on time.
Thursday (6/19) film producer/director Bud Ferillo is presenting a screening of his documentary When the Baugh Breaks.
The Wine and Unwind Lecture is from 6p to 7:30 at the Lourie Center 1650 Park Circle(Maxcy Gregg Park). Wine and refreshments will be served. It’s a free event, however there is a suggested donation of $5.
Friday (6/20) there are so many options. I had to narrow it to a select few. I am so excited about opening night of Evil Dead, The Musical at Trustus 520 Lady St.
I believe this one is going to be one to remember. Based on Sam Raimi’s 80’s cult classic and cast phenomenally. Tickets are $27. Show starts at 8p, but arrive early to chat with other guests and enjoy the bar.
If scary isn’t your thing then grab your partner and head over to CCT 3400 Forest Drive for their Late Night Date Night showing of The Commedia Snow White. This show is for ADULTS ONLY, don’t let the name (snow white) or the facility( Columbia’s Children’s Theatre) fool ya! Go and enjoy this hilarious interpretation of a children’s story. It‘s $10. Thank me later!!
By chance, neither of these suggestions works for you, then I’ll add The Comedy House 2768 Decker Blvd. John “Pops” Witherspoon will be in town. This man is a hoot.
You may remember him as Craig’s father in the movie Friday or Pops from The Wayans Brothers television show. There will be several shows. Friday night there are two. 8p and 10:30p. $20 and runs through Sunday (6/22).
Saturday (6/21) I am going to wind my week down by attending the AIDS Benefit Foundation of South Carolina Dining With Friends Dessert Finale. I will be joining friends and friends of friends as we celebrate all of life and how far we’ve come in AIDS research and information. If you can, please come and enjoy. The Finale will be held at Koger Center for the Arts 1051 Greene St. $25 and starts at 8p
This week I hope all that I shared either brings you joy and laughter or inspires you to keep getting up, getting out and getting involved in the city. I know I am! So, when you are down or around town and you see me, you already know what to do….
Honey, I’ll see you!
